According to a report in the Kingsport Times, there is a new show starting on Fox Sports South called "What Would Mike Do?" and it involves Mike Brown from Amen Chassis bringing in apprentice mechanics to do crazy stuff with cars. Here is an excerpt from the article:
"So the team instead builds another roller from scratch, utilizing only a few of the unique metal aspects from the original Volkswagon’s “skin.” In this early stage it look like a Space Shuttle without wings.
“This vehicle is the first of its kind by utilizing the dual use of a fully functional drag-style custom motorcycle that pushes the VW bus down the road at interstate speeds,” Brown said. “Upon arriving at the destination the motorcycle is removed, like coming out of the trailer, and then it’s just you and your bike. You can push the bus out of the way until it’s time to load up and go home again.”
I'm happy that they are doing something with a VW Bus and it sounds like a crazy stunt, but it is sad to see a very vintage VW Bus, a 1957 one that from the commercials appeared to be a Panelvan, even more rare, get chopped up like this. Why not grab a 70's Bay Window and use it... Either way I'd hate to see them destroy any bus. I know... grab a Vanagon and trash it!
